Ok so.....I will take the last pill of my first cycle of Clomid in the morning. I'm charting basal body temperature and have the ovulation predictor ready. (Digital cause I can never ever tell if those 2 lines are different shades of pink...omg really?!?)
The side effects were not too too bad....I was nauseated this weekend....all weekend. I think I may have had a touch of the flu though....I've experienced headaches and some cramping but nothing bad at all. I am on the lowest dosage...so maybe the side effects are worse as the dosage increases? I am hopeful and praying maybe this will be easy...maybe I'll be one of those people who get pregnant on their first cycle of Clomid. Not banking on it but hopeful.

Clomid
I was prescribed Clomid last week at my post-op visit...now I am just waiting for my cycle to return so I can start the Clomid. I am so anxious and excited to get started....of course my cycle decides to be "off" this month. I know it is common after a D&C to not return to a normal cycle for a few weeks but it is so frustrating! I am now 8 days late and assume this month will probably pass me by....I am so beyond ready to get this started!
Scopolomine BEWARE!!!
Ok....so you know how I told you all that I had surgery a few weeks ago....I had very little discomfort from the surgery itself. Let me just tell you what happened to me....
I am not a person who tolerates anesthesia well....I always am super sick and end up throwing up for days after surgery. (I've had about 7 surgeries in my lifetime) I always tell the Anesthesiologist about my nausea after surgery and generally they give me IV Phenergan and am good to go. This time the doctor is like I'm going to put this patch behind your ear and you are to wear it for the next three days. Before I apply it....do you have glaucoma? I was like no...he said are you sure cause this will make you go blind if you have glaucoma. I said no I don't have glaucoma and he placed it behind my right ear. This was Friday afternoon and he told me to take it off Monday night....which is exactly what I did.
I noticed Tuesday morning that my eyes were fully dilated. I could barely see any color in my eyes at all.. It was noticed by a few of my co workers as well. I assumed that it was from the anesthesia or surgery and didn't really worry too much about it. By Thursday my eyes were fully crossed....both of them and dilated most of the time. I called my doctor that performed the surgery and she sent me to the er.
Come to find the patch the Anesthesiologist placed behind my ear is called Scopolomine. It is very potent....causes vision problems....hallucinations...makes the muscles in the eyes weak...which in turn causes them to cross. The emergency room doctor advised that most of the time the worst side effect is inability to urinate for days....then people have to go to the emergency room to have their bladders drained......YIKES!!! I was instructed to wear my glasses not contacts for the next week and as the Scopolomine wore off, my vision would improve. It took a full 2 weeks to see a significant improvement and my left eye still appears to be slightly off. (I am going to see an Opthamologist in a few weeks)
So if any of you have issues with nausea after anesthesia please be careful of this patch. It was not communicated to me that this could impair my vision or my ability to think and rationalize (which is another side effect) I was scared to death that my eyes would stay crossed and that my vision would not improve. Overwhelmed
I am sitting in my living room with my Springer Spaniel (Charlotte)...dreading returning to work tomorrow. Its been 3 days since my surgery and I cannot seem to snap out of this funk I am in...
The surgery itself was fine...no problems really....for those who may not have read my previous post....I had a hysteroscopy, polypectomy and D & C this past Friday. All went well...my major issues with surgery is always the anesthesia. It makes me sick....makes me cloudy for days and is just uncomfortable.
I will be starting Clomid within the next few weeks. I am excited and scared all at the same time. I am glad that I am taking control and starting to look in to alternative methods to try to help me get pregnant...but, also I am scared to death. What if it doesn't work? I have been trying for so long that the thought of continued failure scares me. I want to be a mother so badly. I wish and pray and hope.....and all I want is the opportunity to be a mother to someone. My husband would be an amazing father and I want for him to have that chance as well.
I know I am rambling on and on....do any of you feel the same way?

HSG
I know I skipped ahead to my surgery this past week...but I wanted to touch on my thoughts on the HSG. I know before each of these procedures I was googling and reading all that I could on the procedure itself and the pain I should expect.
As far as the HSG goes....I agree with what most of the posts I have read say....I think your experience is determined by who is performing the procedure. I had my HSG done in a hospital by a Radiologist. So without the technical terms I will basically tell you what is involved. You go into a room much like a Doctor's office. You take everything off from the waist down....you lie back...and for me...I basically bent my knees and held myself up on the table. They use a speculum much like the one used during a pap test, except way bigger....then they insert a catheter through the vagina and into the uterus. Now comes the fun part....a contrast dye is put through the catheter and flows through the uterus and fallopian tubes. Its used to check for abnormalities in the uterus or to see if the fallopian tubes are blocked. After the dye is injected the radiologist takes the x-rays and explains his findings to you. (which is nice to have some answers right away) So....did it hurt? Without putting the fear of God in to the readers of this blog....Yes it hurt. I have had PCOS for years and have felt that I have a pretty high tolerance of pain in the abdominal region.
With that being said....the radiologist who performed my procedure was a jerk! It would be like Urkel giving you a pelvic exam. I think he was uncomfortable from the beginning and in turn made me uncomfortable. When the dye was injected... the pain took my breath away...I made a very low moan....the Doctor then said to me....I told you it was going to hurt....Didn't I tell you it was going to hurt? Yeah... so my experience was bad mostly due to the fact that the doctor performing my procedure was uncomfortable with the female anatomy and was a man who had no sense of what it is like to be a woman! I think he felt bad cause he was a little more gentle when giving me the results. I was uncomfortable....he was uncomfortable...and you could tell the tech who was in there assisting him, didn't care for HIM either.
So they found a tumor at the very opening of my uterus. That is what I had removed this week. (ended up being a polyp) I will get the pathology back at the end of this week and all should be fine. He did say "my tubes are beautiful" lol so there were no blockages. My doctor called the next day and set up an appointment to have an SHG or Sonohysterogram, which I had done in the doctors office. I will cover that in my next post. (it will back up my claim that your experience is mostly determined by who is performing the test)

I did take some otc painkillers before hand but to be honest...it didn't make much of a difference. Please keep in mind I had an overall bad experience due to the person who was performing the test. D&C, Polypectomy...hysteroscopy
Ok.....So I am currently post op day 3. I went in Friday Am to have a tumor removed from my uterus. Turned out to be a polyp. The worst part was the sore throat from the breathing tube. I always have a problem with anesthesia making me nauseated so that is always the worst for me. The abdominal pain wasn't all that bad...my doctor is amazing! Came in to talk to me before and after surgery. Showed me pics of the polyp before and after she removed it.
It is very possible that this growth...where it was positioned caused my egg to not drop...in turn causing my infertility. So...on we go to Clomid, which I expect to start during my next cycle. I will keep you all updated. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thanks :)

Our move....
So I am from a rural part of Southeastern, Ohio. I will be honest and say that the medical community there is a bit lacking in the way of technology. Every time I would see a doctor I always had comments like..."Your cycles are off due to stress.....or "You are young and have plenty of time to have children"....I had a mid wife tell me one time that "Its up to God when you get pregnant"...yes she said that...and I agree to an extent. Is it not up to me to find out why I can't get pregnant? Or to seek out the help of others to find out why?!?
I cannot tell you how many times I went to the ER for pain or heavy bleeding. The same thing would always happen...draw blood...not bleeding to death....call your doctor if you don't improve. So I would see the doctor and would get the ol'.....You haven't had a regular cycle ....you are bleeding heavy due to not menstruating regularly. The bleeding went on for 2 months before I had to have a D &C.. That was in November 2006.
I'll spare you the next four years of pain...changing doctors three times....and bring you to January 2011. My husband and I moved to the capital city of Columbus, Ohio. I find myself a "real doctor" and my life begins to change. Fear and hope become a daily part of my life.

So I would see the doctor and would get the ol'.....You haven't had a regular cycle ....you are bleeding heavy due to not menstruating regularly.
